Equal OpportunitiesBT Passports22 November 2007
The CWU has been involved in developing an individual "passport", a confidential document between an individual and their line manager. The Passports were launched at BT's Diversity Event on 21 November 2007. The purpose of these new documents is to help our members who have a disability; who believe their health may have an impact on their job in the future; or who have a caring need; to get the support they need without having to renegotiate their adjustments with every line manager they encounter. The passport is entirely voluntary, and must be mutually agreed. It is confidential and the manager is responsible for ensuring that their copy is handed onto the next line manager when the individual changes manager. The individual member keeps a copy of their passport and takes it with them to whatever job they may move to or if they change manager and this should ensure continuity in the approach taken by BT to their situation. Much of the work for these Passports was undertaken by Nicki Coughlin who as well as being a CWU representative is also Disability Champion for BT Retail. The TFSE Equal Opportunities Committee would like to thank Nicki for her valued contribution to this initiative. |
