Equal OpportunitiesEthnic Minorities
People from unfamiliar cultures have traditionally been a target for unfair treatment and discrimination. Often discrimination can be unintentional, but unfair treatment can be deliberate and hurtful. We recognise that people from some cultural backgrounds may suffer direct discrimination due to their race, colour or religion. This may take the form of anything from name calling or inappropriate jokes to bullying and assault. We are also aware that indirect discrimination, in the form of things such as enforced working practices and refusal of annual leave, can prevent people taking part in recognised religious or other cultural festivals. We will do our best to assist any member who suffers discrimination or unfair treatment. More information |
