National Youth Education Event 2008

This year's National Youth Education Event will take place over the weekend of 10-12 October at the Jury's Inn Hotel in Brighton.

The National Youth Education Event is the primary youth event run by the CWU. It brings together young (under the age of 30) activists over the course of a weekend in which they gain knowledge, skills and confidence about their role in the union and the union’s work in general.

In past years, the event has been attended by senior figures including the General Secretary and Senior Deputy General Secretary, both industrial Deputy General Secretaries, government ministers and leading representatives of organisations such as Unite Against Fascism and the Equal Opportunities Commission.

The value of the National Youth Education Event can be seen by the way in which past participants have increased in confidence and skills and have made increasingly valuable and high level contributions to the union. Indeed, past participants now find themselves as Branch Youth Officers, Regional Youth Committee Chairs, workplace or area representatives, National Officers of the Union.

Full board and lodging is provided including two nights’ accommodation and all meals (breakfast, lunch and dinner).

The event starts at 6pm on Friday 10 October and ends at lunchtime on Sunday 12 October.
