Offensive Mobile Phone Images

Offensive Mobile Phone ImagesCWU Head Office has been made aware of some cases where members have been openly showing video clips on their phones to their work colleagues. The nature of the video clips has given headquarters enough concern that they felt it was appropriate to offer advice on the matter.

We are aware that some members may have material that is clearly of an inappropriate nature. It may not known whether the videos are genuine or fake but nonetheless the images are still totally unacceptable.

There is no exhaustive list as to what is and what is not offensive and everyone's opinion will differ, though we would urge members to apply common sense in heeding this warning.

We cannot stress enough that to have this sort of information and then to display it to colleagues at work is clearly unacceptable. It goes without saying that employers will take a dim view of anyone caught falling foul of this message and members will leave themselves open to disciplinary action. Equally worrying is the fact that the Police may also be interested in following-up these cases where the complainant reports it to the them.

In conjunction with the General Secretary's office, the Equal Opportunities Department felt it was appropriate that all members are advised accordingly and urge compliance amongst the membership.
