What happened to cwu-oxbuck.org?
In October 2006, members of the CWU Oxfordshire and Buckinghamshire Branch and the Beds Herts
and Bucks Branch voted to merge, so the web site was been re-launched under the new name.
How do I send e-mail to you?
You can find links to the e-mail addresses of the Branch Officers and committee members on the
Contact Us page.
How do I get the password for the Members Area?
When I want to view the Members Area why doesn't the password work?
You must use the correct password and username. Your password is case sensitive. If you have
forgotten them use the form on the main Members Area page to request them again.
What is a Member Mailing List?
Member Mailing Lists have been set up so that the branch office have up-to-date details
of members email addresses for when they need to send information about something important. You
can find out more about Member Mailing Lists.
What is a Chat Room?
A Chat Room is a live on-line message facility that lets you take part in a "virtual"
conversation on-line. There is more information on the Chat Room login page.
What is a WebRing?
A WebRing is a collection of Web Sites that share a common aim or theme. Each site will have
special links that allow you to navigate to other sites in the Ring, eventually leading back to
where you started. You can see the WebRings this site belongs to on the WebRings Page.
What is a WAP page and how do I view it?
A Wireless Application Protocol (WAP) page is web page designed to be viewed using a mobile
phone or similar device that has a WAP mini-browser. To view our Mini-mobile site just type the
address mobile.cwu-ccc.org into a WAP enabled phone. More information about

What happened to the On-line Leaflets?
The leaflets were originally produced by CWU head office as printed documents only. Many of the
leaflets are no longer relevant following changes in legislation and other developments and some of
the original leaflets have not been reprinted to reflect these changes.
With the increase in the number of people with Internet facilities and developments in
technology at head office most of the leaflets are now available on the head office web site as PDF
documents. As a result it is no longer necessary for us to reproduce our own on-line versions. Some
of the original material covered by the leaflets is still available on this web site, just refer to
the relevant section of the web site or check the Site Map.
Why do I get a message about a Blocked Pop-Up or restricted active content?
If you are using a Microsoft Windows web browser (Internet Explorer version 6 and above) it will
automatically block all pop-up windows that are opened by web-pages themselves. You may see a
message that "Internet Explorer has restricted ... active content" on a page. There is

Why do I get an error message about JavaScript?
Some elements of this site use special code called JavaScript. If some pages do not appear to be
working properly it may be because your browser does not support JavaScript or has JavaScript
functions disabled. To view this site correctly you need to enable JavaScript on your browser, or
try a newer browser version. Check your browser help files for details.
Why do I get an error message about Invalid Directory?
You may have typed the address for the page incorrectly, or you have accessed an area of the
site that does not contain web pages for public browsing.
Why do I get a message that says authorisation is required?

Why do some or all of website pages seem incomplete?
The web site is designed using the latest formatting methods to give consistent appearance and
reduce download times. It is possible that if you have an older browser version it may need
updating to take advantage of the new technology.
Why do I get an error message when I fill in
a form and press "send"?
Why do some links open in a separate browser window?
Most links to external sites open a separate browser window to make it easier to return to this site.
What is a "PDF" document, how can I view it?
The "PDF" file format is designed to make it easy to distribute documents like
leaflets and brochures. You will need the Adobe Reader to view PDF files, you can
download it free.
How do I contact you if I find a problem with the site?
How often is the site updated?
Different sections and pages are updated at different times. We try and maintain the most up to
date information on the site, especially the items in the Latest News section. Most pages with time
sensitive information show the date the information was provided or last updated.
What happened to the Discussion Group?
The Discussion Group was removed as it was not used very often and the technology used to
operate it proved to be unreliable.
What happened to the Guest Book?
The Guest Book page has been replaced by the Site Feedback Form. You can use it to make comments about the
site that we can add to the page for everyone else who visits the site to see. Please do not use
the Site Feedback form to report problems using the site, but use the
Web Site Enquiry Form.
