Redundancy Advice

UK workers are caught up in the turmoil of the free market and global competitiveness. Margins are tight, employers are cutting staffing levels to the bone, and redundancies are being announced on a daily basis.

The telecom industry, in particular, seems to be in total meltdown with many workers looking to the CWU for advice and support when faced with redundancy. Unions can never entirely eliminate job losses - we don't live in a perfect world. But, by standing together, we can make things considerably better. We can challenge the scope and numbers. We can argue for fairness in the selection criteria. We can campaign for redeployment solutions and retraining packages. We can fight for better compensation packages. There ARE protections and benefits that can be won.
