BT Pay 2007: Result of Ballot

The result of the consultative ballot of CWU members on the BT Pay offer is as follows:
- Accepting the pay offer - 81% of votes cast
- Rejecting the pay offer - 19% of votes cast
The offer from BT provides for:
- a 4.7% increase in basic pay and pay related allowances (London Weighting to increase by 75%
of the base pay increase) with effect from 1 April 2007,
- an increase in base pay and pay related allowances of RPI plus 0.5% (London Weighting to
increase by 75% of the base pay increase with effect from 1 April 2008.
The CWU has confirmed acceptance of the pay offer. The increase which is backdated to 1 April
2007 will be implemented in May salaries.

April 2007, BT tabled an offer of 4.2% on base pay:

BT has
improved its pay offer to an increase of 4% consolidated on base pay with effect from 1 April 2007:

BT increased its pay offer to 3.5% consolidated and a £100 unconsolidated "lump sum"

As pay
negotiations move into the final phase, the CWU negotiating team has made clear to BT that the gap
in negotiations is still far too great if there is to be any prospect of a negotiated settlement:

rejected the CWU’s claim for 7% as "impractical and unsustainable" and tabled an offer of

The
T&FSE has decided that the appropriate claim to submit to BT should be for an increase
