BT Pay 2007 - LATEST OFFER – 3.3% + £100 lump sum REJECTED

15 March 2007

As pay negotiations move into the final phase, the CWU negotiating team has made clear to BT that the gap in negotiations is still far too great if there is to be any prospect of a negotiated settlement.

  • You work harder, under more pressure, to tighter deadlines and targets to deliver success for BT
  • BT is successful – thanks to you
  • BT need you to continue to co-operate in order to maintain that success
  • BT's response to your contribution is a cut in pay in real terms

BT's argument to the CWU negotiating team:

  • BT wants to continue to cut costs

The CWU has emphatically rejected this latest offer. The consolidated offer of 3.3% is still a pay cut in real terms. We maintain there is no place in any settlement for an unconsolidated "lump sum" payment.

The CWU understands the need for BT to retain its competitive edge and to maintain job security for our members. We do not have an argument with that. We welcome the company's success. What the CWU does not accept is that BT's success can only be achieved by a cut in our members pay rates. You deserve to share in BT's success.
