BT Pay 2007 - NEW OFFER: 3.5% + £100 – REJECTED

21 March 2007

BT increased its pay offer to 3.5% consolidated and a £100 unconsolidated "lump sum" payment. Deputy General Secretary, Jeannie Drake, who leads the negotiations for the CWU, described the offer as "extremely disappointing".

Jeannie says:

"To have this gap between the negotiating teams so late in the negotiations is very worrying indeed."

"Our members will not accept a cut in their pay in real terms, and we have made that very clear to BT. Despite that BT are not moving their offers into that arena. We are committed to a negotiated settlement but if BT does not make a significant increase in their offer, we may have no choice but to move into a dispute situation."

"We are at a critical stage and members need to be aware that we are reaching the end of the negotiations, with the offer from BT falling short of an offer that would secure a negotiated settlement."
